Now don’t get us wrong, we are not claiming to have achieved a completely sustainable business, but we are working to make improvements where we can to reduce PacaPod’s carbon footprint.
We’ve recently introduced new packaging used to send your lovely purchases to you – as well as looking pretty when it lands on your doorstep, our new poly bags are completely biodegradable. 12-18 months after use, this eco-friendly packaging will simply begin to biodegrade harmlessly back into the earth.
This helps significantly in reducing the amount of packaging that needs to go to landfill and in addition conserves energy, as the biodegrading process does not require external energy.
Did you know the average baby will get through around 4000 disposable nappies in their lifetime? Just imagine what a huge pile of smelly rubbish that equates to…
With this in mind we made sure that the Changer Pod in each PacaPod bag has been designed to accommodate for reusable cloth nappies – with 3 billion disposable nappies being thrown away each year and 90% of these ending up in landfills we encourage you all to try out reusable nappies, after all, it is Real Nappy Week right now (16th-22nd May).
We hate throwing things away and often prefer to embrace our hoarding tendencies, but when the time finally comes to (reluctantly) rid ourselves of piles of empty boxes etc, we make sure as little as possible ends up in the bin.
As well as recycling 100% of cardboard used in our office and warehouse, we make sure that no PacaPod changing bag in our possession ends it’s life in a landfill. Those bags that are functional despite previous handling are donated to charities to start afresh with a new owner, and bags that have sadly seen the end of their days are completely broken down component by component and recycled back into good use, with some elements being used in power stations to make fuel!
On a more personal level, we are each doing our little bit to reduce PacaPod’s carbon footprint; our Manchester office is easily accessible by bus and train (and soon by tram!), and those of us who can have ditched our cars and started walking to work (despite the typical Northern wet weather) – it’s the perfect way to clear our heads and switch on our “work brains” after dropping the kids at school.
Ok, so these may only be small changes, but remember that lots of small changes build up to eventually become one HUGE change – although we’ve got quite a journey ahead of us, we’re proud to have started down the path to becoming a entirely sustainable business.

Our PacaPod Coromandel is becoming quite the little Superstar!
The latest praise for this season’s ‘must have’ changing bag comes from I’m Pregnant magazine, which has chosen the Coromandel as one of it’s “perfect accessories”.
We’re delighted to launch the highly anticipated Sequoia changing bag, the newest addition to the PacaPod family.
Out on location and with local mum Suzanne and her beautiful baby Isabel doing a wonderful job in front of the camera it wasn’t long before we were happily snapping away. We did our best not to eat the yummy cupcakes (we quickly gave up resisting once the photoshoot was over) but little Isabel couldn’t wait as you may see on the pics.

We have been working hard at PacaPod listening to customer requests and developing new styles to satisfy! From December/January we will be selling a whole new generation of PacaPods (up on the website in November). These will include leather bags, funky prints through to a new PlayPod for your toddler (which fits inside your PacaPod too).
We love Harrogate trade show, it’s the largest UK nursery fair and stacked full of the best in international nursery design. Including our new range of bags for launch in autumn / winter 09 and the very special new Hopper Bag – all coming soon! We had fantastic interest in our ever expanding range and look forward to finalising a number of distribution agreements across the globe.
